Public Lighting - Distribution Cabinets


The public lighting distribution cabinets are intended for measurement of electricity consumption by public lighting and for public lighting management.

By electricity supply and measurement, there are three main cabinet types:

  • direct electricity measurement, with expected load of up to 100A;
  • semi-direct electricity measurement, with expected load of up to 250A;
  • public lighting cabinets supplied from a pole-mounted substations of up to 100A

  • The public lighting distribution cabinets are fitted with the following elements:

  • Electricity meter
  • Photo-relay, astronomical relay or MTK, depending on whether the lights turn on in certain weather conditions or in a constant period. They also help to reduce consumption by public lighting since they regulate turning off of the lighting during all night or half night.
  • Automatic circuit-breakers
  • Contactor, the number of which depends on the number of cabinet outgoing lines
  • Cam switchfor regulation of lighting operation, automatically (through a photo or astronomical relay) or manually
  • Sockets and lightbulb,

  • The equipment installed in the cabinets measures electricity consumption safely and accurately, and it is easy for maintenance and fault removal.

    The public lighting distribution cabinet is installed on a concrete foundation with a parapet, on a reinforced concrete pole or on a wall. They are made of 2.5mm thick Al sheet, by CNC welding procedure. The surface of the cabinet is protected by electrostatic procedure, using RAL 7035 polyester powder paint, in compliance with the CEN/TC 271 norms. The public lighting cabinets can also be made of PVC.

    Doors can be locked, with locking in three points. Door overlay and sealing is achieved by the expanding polyurethane mass applied by NC procedure with the protection rating of IP 54. A documentation holder and a grounding bolt are placed on the inner side of the door.

    Roof structure is made to prevent water collection, and ingress of insects and rodents into the cabinet is disabled.

    The interior of the cabinet is modular, withdrawable and adjusted to the equipment of various manufacturers. The bedplate has holes with screw threads for faster equipment mounting and dismantling. All cabinet elements are made without sharp edges or transitions.
